On November 26, the eagerly awaited Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.11 was finally rolled out, bringing with it the much-anticipated Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) raid. This update, which marks the addition of the sixth Ultimate raid challenge to the game, also comes with some player-versus-player (PVP) job adjustments and a slew of new rewards for those dedicated to achieving new milestones.
Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) revives the Eden raid series from the Shadowbringers expansion in a whole new way. Inspired by the powerful Guardian Force from Final Fantasy 8, the raid ties the theme together with its name and design. While nods to Final Fantasy 8 make appearances within the Eden raids, the storyline mainly revolves around the characters Ryne and Gaia. Their mission is to bring back elemental harmony to The Empty, a barren landscape devastated by the Flood of Light. The Eden raid features twelve encounters, seven of which pit players against alternate versions of legendary Primals like Titan and Shiva. The Savage iteration of Eden’s final tier challenges players with a battle against Gaia, who holds the title of the Oracle of Darkness.
Although the Eden raids set a high bar for difficulty in Shadowbringers, Patch 7.11 raises the stakes even further. According to the patch notes, those brave enough to take on Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) must first conquer The Arcadion’s fourth round on Savage difficulty. After clearing that hurdle, players need to converse with the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal, which will unlock this sixth Ultimate raid. The colossal challenge features bosses such as Fatebreaker, Shiva, and the infamous Oracle of Darkness. At the time of writing, no teams had yet conquered Futures Rewritten (Ultimate). The spoils for overcoming this daunting raid include a new title and an Oracle Totem. This can be traded with a Viera NPC named Uah’shepya in Solution Nine for an Ultimate Edenmorn weapon of choice.
Besides the launch of this challenging raid, Patch 7.11 also fine-tunes several PVP jobs, following a PVP overhaul introduced in Patch 7.1 a fortnight earlier. Jobs such as the Astrologian, Paladin, and Red Mage have seen some nerfs, while others like Samurai, Machinist, and Viper received buffs. Players can also enjoy new rewards for their achievement certificates, which they can obtain by visiting Jonathas in Old Gridania.
Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.15, set to release on December 17, promises additional job tuning. With Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) now accessible, fans eagerly anticipate what Square Enix has in store for future Ultimate raid challenges, especially with upcoming expansions like Dawntrail.
The detailed patch notes for Final Fantasy 14’s Patch 7.11, dated November 26, 2024, include noteworthy updates and enhancements.
Playable Content
New chapters have been added to New Game+, providing fresh content to tackle. Role quests in Dawntrail now have a prologue, which you’ll unlock by completing the role quest “Uncouth Customers”.
Housing enthusiasts will find new Orchestrion Rolls to add a musical touch to their in-game homes.
Battle System
The much-anticipated Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) has been introduced as a high-end duty. The storyline focuses on the potential and many paths the future can take, illustrated beautifully by the ballad sung by a wandering minstrel.
To unlock this challenge, players need to complete the AAC Light-heavyweight M4 (Savage) and then speak with the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal as a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic.
Entering Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) requires forming a party of eight who have all completed the AAC Light-heavyweight M4 (Savage).
Completion Reward
Successful completion of this raid will earn players a reward once a week. The reward can be traded with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine for ultimate Edenmorn weapons, and the eligibility resets every Tuesday at midnight (PST).
A gameplay nuance to note: If multiple party members share the same job, the limit gauge won’t fill during the battle. Healing an ally on the brink of death or preventing enemy special attacks, however, will see the gauge rise normally.
PVP Job Changes
With Season Twelve ongoing, various job adjustments have been made based on win rates to either bolster weaker jobs or temper those overperforming.
Looking closely at some notable changes:
– Paladin: Paladins had exceptionally high win rates, prompting the developers to tweak both their offensive and defensive capabilities. Shield Smite’s cooldown has been extended, while Sacred Claim’s healing and Holy Sheltron’s barrier absorption have been adjusted.
– Warrior: Warriors were struggling on the front line, leading to a reduction in the HP cost of Orogeny and increased potency for it and Onslaught.
– Monk: Cooldown reductions for Wind’s Reply should provide more options in close combat, helping address tier-based win rate disparities.
– Samurai: Adjustments were made to reflect the feel of previous abilities, with changes aimed at keeping win rates balanced.
– Various other classes, including Black Mage, Summoner, and Red Mage, received both buffs and nerfs, designed to even out their power and viability in play.
Miscellaneous updates introduce new items, music, achievements, and resolve numerous issues such as map display errors, PvP action bugs, and incorrect item availability.
As players dive into the challenging raid Futures Rewritten (Ultimate), it’s clear that Square Enix continues to refine and enrich the world of Final Fantasy 14, promising an exciting and dynamic experience for its enthusiasts.
