Today marks an exciting milestone as we’ve unlocked early access to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for all PS5 gamers who opted for the Imperial Edition pre-order. And here’s a treat for everyone else—the game will officially drop for all PS5 players on December 3.
Having initially launched on PC in November 2022, we’ve been hard at work to evolve Darktide, rolling out nine major expansions and over 25 substantial updates along the way. The release on PS5 is timed perfectly with our tenth major free update, Grim Protocols. And trust me, there’s plenty more exciting content lined up for the future!

Bringing Darktide to PS5 and PS5 Pro
The development journey of Darktide for PS5 was driven by a passion to deliver peak performance and an immersive gaming experience. We’ve dedicated time and resources to fully optimize the game for PS5’s capabilities. This means players can toggle between Performance mode, delivering 60FPS at 1440p, or choose Quality mode for 30FPS at 4K resolution. Meanwhile, those with a PS5 Pro will relish in our PSSR tech, ensuring a smooth 60FPS at a stunning 4K.
We couldn’t overlook the DualSense wireless controller’s unique features. Our goal was to make it feel as intricately connected to the Warhammer experience as possible. Whether wielding the iconic Boltgun, the precision-based Lasgun, or the power-infused Force Staff, every weapon promises its own flair and uniquely satisfying feedback when you cycle through your gear.
