Baldur’s Gate 3 has undoubtedly captured the spotlight as one of the standout games of 2023. Earning several Game of the Year accolades, it left a significant mark on the gaming community. Yet, fans have voiced demands for more features, and it seems their wishes will be granted with the upcoming Patch 8.
What are the new features coming with Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8?
Gearing up to be the next significant update for this popular RPG, Patch 8 is anticipated to land early next year. Bringing some long-awaited features, it promises to introduce cross-play, a snazzy photo mode, and 12 fresh subclasses. Excitingly, this update will reach all platforms, PS5 included.
So, what’s the buzz around cross-play in the latest community update? Essentially, players can now join forces, regardless of whether they’re on PS5, PC, Xbox, or Mac. To dive into this feature, players will need to switch on cross-play and set up a Larian Network account.
Meanwhile, the addition of a photo mode is something fans will love. It’ll let you capture moments from your quests, complete with cool camera settings to spotlight specific characters, adjust lenses, and choose from a variety of scene settings. Plus, you can enhance your snaps with post-processing effects, frames, and stickers. Whether wandering around or during cutscenes, you can snap away, although the camera options won’t be tweakable in cinematics.
Then there are the 12 exciting new subclasses set to enrich the game for every class. Each comes with distinct abilities, animations, visual effects, summons, and cantrips. Here’s a rundown of what’s on deck:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
Larian Studios is planning to run a stress test for Patch 8, and they’re inviting PS5 players to sign up in January. More details will come in their next Community Update, so stay tuned.
