ININ Games brings us TAITO Milestones 3, boasting a lineup of 10 classic games ready to be played on the Nintendo Switch. We’re diving deep into these nostalgia-filled titles in our comprehensive TAITO Milestones 3 review!
ININ Games introduced us to the TAITO Milestones series back in 2022, showcasing beloved retro games from TAITO’s vast catalog. Last year, TAITO Milestones 2 enriched our Switch experience with another collection of 10 classic games. Now, in 2024, we’re thrilled to explore the latest in the series.
Curious about which iconic TAITO games you can delve into with TAITO Milestones 3 on your Switch? Here’s the lineup:
– Bubble Bobble
– Rainbow Islands
– Rastan Saga
– Dead Connection
– Cadash
– Rastan Saga 2
– Champion Wrestler
– Runark
– Warrior Blade
– Thunder Fox
Starting with Bubble Bobble, this iconic 1986 arcade hit invites you into the world of Bub and Bob, two dragons on a mission to rescue their girlfriends from the clutches of the nefarious Baron Von Blubba. Their primary weapon? Bubbles, capable of entrapping enemies which then transform into collectible items enhancing your score or providing power-ups once popped. You might recognize this classic from its Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) version.
Its sequel, Rainbow Islands: The Story of Bubble Bobble 2, lets you play as the human forms of Bub and Bob – revealed to have been transformed into dragons. This time, instead of bubbles, magical rainbows are your tools of choice to counter evil forces on the Rainbow Islands, all while dodging rising sea levels.
Rastan Saga, known simply as Rastan in the West, is the next in line, transporting players to a sidescrolling hack-and-slash adventure from 1987. Here, you assume the role of the mighty warrior Rastan, battling through six stages brimming with enemies and formidable bosses. Don’t forget to grab weapons and power-ups, though they might only be around fleetingly!
Dead Connection, a 1992 arcade game, takes us back to a stylized 1950s “big city,” exuding vibes reminiscent of classics like The Untouchables and The Godfather. Up to four players can join forces to combat waves of foes across single-screen stages, making the most of acquired weapons and power-ups.
Venturing into the realm of fantasy, Cadash combines 2D platforming with RPG elements as it tells the story of heroes embarking on a quest to save Princess Salassa from a dreaded two-headed dragon. Seven stages stand between you and the villain, with magic and melee skills at your disposal to save the day.
Rastan Saga 2 picks up where the first leaves off, continuing the brave tale of Rastan. Known as Nastar Warrior in North America, this sequel challenges players to thwart the schemes of a nefarious wizard.
Meet the ring in Champion Wrestler, a 1989 wrestling game that lets you choose from eight unique grapplers, each possessing distinct attributes such as Power, Durability, and Technique to conquer the championship title.
In the 1990 world of Runark (known outside Japan as Growl), you assume the mantle of a wildlife-preserving forest ranger, battling poachers with fists – and hand grenades, naturally – across seven action-packed stages.
Warrior Blade, the third chapter in the Rastan Saga series, never made it out of Japan until now. Released in 1991, this game allows you to switch perspectives with its trio of characters, reminiscent of the beloved Golden Axe series.
Finally, Thunder Fox takes you to the chaotic year 199X, where terrorism reigns supreme. This 1990 arcade run-and-gun titled game introduces us to a daring anti-terror duo – Thunder and Fox – on a mission to restore peace.
Now, for just $39.99, you can get your hands on TAITO Milestones 3 when it launches on the Nintendo Switch on December 10. The diversity of these titles ensures that there’s a nostalgic gem for everyone!
