IO Interactive, the studio renowned for creating the Hitman series, has decided to part ways with Conor McGregor, the famous mixed martial artist. This decision comes in response to a legal case where McGregor was accused and found liable in a civil lawsuit for rape.
Sharing the update via Twitter, IO Interactive expressed that they could not overlook the serious nature of the court’s decision. McGregor had previously lent his likeness to The Disruptor DLC in the Hitman franchise, which is now seeing changes due to these developments.
The announcement made it clear: “Given the recent verdict concerning Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has concluded to discontinue our association with him immediately. This is a grave matter, and its ramifications cannot be ignored.” The studio added, “As a result, we will start removing any content that includes Mr. McGregor from our selling platforms, starting today.”
This move reflects IO’s commitment to responding to serious legal and ethical concerns within their partnerships, ensuring their content aligns with their values. The company seems determined to address these issues head-on, maintaining their stance on accountability and responsibility.
