Canadian game development studio Worlds Untold has announced a temporary halt in its activities.
In a recent LinkedIn post, the team revealed their current efforts in finding a new partnership. The studio, which was unveiled in November 2023, is led by Mac Walters, a former BioWare veteran. They initially received support from Chinese gaming powerhouse NetEase. We have reached out to NetEase to gain clarity on the current status of this partnership.
Making this decision wasn’t easy for the team. “This was not a decision we made lightly—it’s been a deeply personal journey, and we’re all so proud of everything this team has built together,” the studio expressed in their LinkedIn update.
During this pause, the talented individuals at Worlds Untold will be seeking new ventures. “If you’re in need of passionate, skilled professionals, please don’t hesitate to connect. I’d be honored to introduce you to some of the best people I’ve worked with,” the post continues.
“This is undoubtedly a tough moment for all of us, but I’m incredibly thankful for the support from our partners, friends, and family, as well as the experiences we’ve shared at Worlds Untold. Although we are taking a break for now, this isn’t farewell. There are exciting things ahead, and we will be eager to share the next chapter when the time is right,” the studio concluded with hope for the future.
