Fast Travel Games, a well-known name in the VR gaming world, has just unveiled that their new VR shooter, Action Hero, inspired by the mechanics of Superhot, will be making its debut on the Quest platform next month.
In Action Hero, you’ll experience the familiar and thrilling time-stopping feature from Superhot, where time only progresses when you do. This allows for some seriously strategic planning, letting you orchestrate moves and shootouts that could rival any John Wick sequence.
Slated for release on December 12th for Quest 2 and newer headsets, Action Hero takes players on a cinematic journey across five different ‘movies,’ each representing a unique genre.
Each movie is broken into four acts containing five scenes. To advance, players must tackle formidable enemies and navigate through obstacles in striking slow-motion. The twist? Time speeds up based on your movements, meaning you’ll need to blend quick reflexes with thoughtful tactics. If you get hit, it’s back to the start of that act for you.
The team at Fast Travel Games has given us a glimpse into some of the featured genres, such as a heist narrative, an Indiana Jones-esque adventure, a cyborg-themed spectacle, and a ninja story, which got the spotlight in their latest trailer.
Beyond the typical action sequences in slow motion, Action Hero promises boss battles and an array of distinct weapons tailored to each movie theme. Additionally, there are five ‘Director’s Cuts’ to explore, each offering a fresh take on the original levels with new challenges and quirky scenarios.
Mark your calendars for December 12th when Action Hero launches, exclusively for Quest 2 and newer devices, priced at $20. Until then, you can add it to your wishlist in the Horizon Store.
