Skydance’s upcoming title, Behemoth, is generating quite the buzz, but it appears to be arriving with a bit more excitement—and complexity—than initially anticipated. Skydance Games has shared with Road to VR that they’re gearing up for some essential post-launch updates throughout the first week for both Quest and PSVR 2 users.
A representative from Skydance Games disclosed that they encountered a “cascading hardware failure,” which temporarily set back the testing and certification process for Behemoth across various platforms. However, they assured us that these issues will not impact the game’s release schedule. The team has rebounded, although they have updates planned for both PSVR 2 and Quest right after launch.
Specifically, players can expect a “day-one patch for PlayStation” and by the seventh day, a patch for Meta Quest headsets. Details on what these patches will address aren’t available yet, but it’s clear the studio is committed to smoothing out any early wrinkles.
As for the PC VR version of Behemoth, fans will need to stay tuned. The Steam page still lists the release date as “to be announced,” adding an air of mystery to its launch timing.
The title was initially slated to hit the shelves on November 14th, but Skydance Games decided in September to push the release to December 5th. The extra time was intended to fine-tune this ambitious action-adventure game, which is shaping up to be one of the standout VR experiences of the year.
Behemoth is set to make a splash with its availability on Quest 2, 3, Pro, PSVR 2, and eventually PC VR. Gamers can look forward to diving into a 12-hour campaign, packed with exploration, combat, and environmental puzzles. The game also embraces VR-native design principles, a hallmark of the studio’s earlier success with The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.
