Ayaneo, a renowned name in the realm of handheld consoles, has just pulled back the curtain on their latest flagship model, the Ayaneo 3. This release builds on the tremendous success of its predecessor by maintaining a familiar design and button layout while rolling out some significant hardware upgrades.
The Ayaneo blog spills the beans that the Ayaneo 3 will be powered either by the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the mightier Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Gamers will experience top-tier immersion thanks to its stunning seven-inch high-refresh LCD or OLED HDR screen. In terms of gameplay control, two additional buttons have been sneakily tucked into the back of the console.
Sadly, Ayaneo remains tight-lipped about further specifics on the Ayaneo 3. We’re still in the dark about its RAM, storage, and price points. If we glance back at the Ayaneo 2, it offered versions with 16GB or 32GB of RAM alongside storage options of 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. Pricing for this model started at $1,099 but could climb to $1,549 for the exclusive B.Duck edition. It’s a fair bet that Ayaneo 3’s pricing will tread a similar path, albeit slightly steeper.
What’s exciting here is that the Ayaneo 3 is among the first to leverage the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. While this chipset includes an NPU that isn’t utilized by most of today’s games, its four extra cores, Zen 5 architecture, and powerful AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU are sure to pack a punch compared to the Ryzen 7 8840U. This means it might even overshadow some of the best PC handhelds, which usually rely on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The market for handheld consoles is certainly bustling. With competitors like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two expected to debut by late this year or early 2025, it’ll be intriguing to see how the Ayaneo 3 holds its ground and what unique gaming experiences it will bring to enthusiasts of handheld consoles.
