The Helldivers 2 modding community has been buzzing with creativity lately, especially if you’re a fan of games like Crazy Taxi, or perhaps more relevantly, Halo 3: ODST. Among the wave of new content, a standout is the game’s first fully-fledged “Warbond” mod, which has just hit the scene, and it’s pretty impressive.
Before diving deeper, it’s crucial to clarify that this particular mod is a Warbond-like creation. It may not have all the official flourishes of Arrowhead’s original Warbonds, but if you’re excited about testing out some new armor, this mod definitely delivers.
Called a “modded Warbond” by its main architect, the talented modder Jayypino, this creation carries the name ‘Dogmatic Reach’—a title that will soon make perfect sense. In essence, it introduces several new armor sets and helmets that fuse elements from both Helldivers 2 and Halo 3: ODST. This means you get a bit of a Spartan vibe, but not in a way that’s as stark as simply donning a Master Chief skin. Jayypino describes it as “different, but familiar”, featuring “custom vanilla styled textures” that are designed to blend seamlessly with the game’s original armors.
In terms of options, each newly introduced armor set, which serves as a replacement for existing game sets, offers alternative paint schemes. These add unique features like fierce-looking teeth on your helmet or a striking blue shade that aligns with another mod Jayypino has worked on, known as the ‘SEAF Specialists’ from The Grave Situation Team.
To give this mod a whirl, you’ll need to download the latest version of Teutinsa’s ‘HD2 Mod Manager’. Once ready, prepare to say hello to three fresh armor configurations: the Chimera, Hydra, and Cyclops sets.
The HD2 community hasn’t stopped there; it’s been quite an eventful time. Recently, a dataminer claimed to have accidentally stumbled upon an ‘Illuminate Aurora Borealis’ effect while experimenting with obelisks. Meanwhile, an aspiring artist has drawn up an intriguing 14-page concept of what an indoor dungeon mission might look like, showcasing the boundless creativity within the community.
