Fascinating news for gaming enthusiasts: Fellow Traveller and Pikselnesia have announced that Afterlove EP will hit the Nintendo Switch soon.
Described as an "emotional journey through love, loss, and music," this unique blend of a visual novel, rhythm game, and narrative adventure is set in the vibrant city of Jakarta, Indonesia. The journey follows Rama, a young musician wrestling with his grief after the death of his girlfriend, Cinta. Players will guide him in creating an EP to honor a promise he made to her, with the narrative offering a range of outcomes based on your decisions.
Adding to the emotive experience is a specially curated soundtrack from the Indonesian band L’alphalpha, alongside captivating art by local artist Soyatu that embraces a manga style.
As for the game’s core elements, here’s what the developers highlight:
One Month Countdown: Rama’s band faces a pivotal moment with an important gig looming in just a month. He must decide whether to focus on his music and deliver on his commitments or risk losing his band. Over a span of twenty-eight days, players will influence Rama’s destiny. This involves exploring Jakarta, mending relationships, forging new ones, confronting the past, and finding his creative muse to carve out a future.
Multi-genre Gameplay: Embark on a journey through contemporary Jakarta via side-scrolling exploration, engage in profound discussions with storied characters, and enjoy rhythm-based jamming sessions.
An Indonesian Experience: As part of Indonesia’s growing indie game scene, Afterlove EP offers an authentic glimpse into the urban lifestyle of its creators in Jakarta. The game captures local flavor through Soyatu’s distinctive artwork and L’alphalpha’s indie sounds.
Expect to find Afterlove EP available digitally on the Nintendo eShop globally for Nintendo Switch starting February 14, 2025.
