Seems like Nintendo is playing it cool this time. They’ve just announced the Nintendo Switch 2, aiming for a 2025 release, and allowed it to slip into the public eye without much fanfare. If you’ve caught the first-look trailer, you might be feeling just a tad underwhelmed, and I can’t blame you. But hey, check it out and see if you agree with all the buzz.
Now let’s talk about the console itself. Not much left to surprise us after all those leaks on social media. The trailer showcases a bigger size, a sturdier support stand, and spends quite a bit of time focusing on the Joy-Con connectivity. It’s almost as if Nintendo is saying, “Relax, the juicy details are coming in April.”
Come April 2nd, Nintendo plans to host a Nintendo Direct centered around the Switch 2. Right after that, they’ll kick off hands-on events — the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience — in various places and here’s the scoop on where and when:

– New York: April 4-6, 2025
– Los Angeles: April 11-13, 2025

Over in Europe:

And in Asia:

Curious about the games making an appearance at these events? The trailer hints at a brand new Mario Kart. But don’t worry, the full lineup of games will likely be revealed during the April 2nd Nintendo Direct. If you’re planning to check out one of these events, double-check that your Nintendo account is active because you’ll need it.
Here’s something to keep your eye on: “Nintendo Switch 2 plays Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, along with both physical and digital Nintendo Switch titles,” says Nintendo. Though, be advised that some Switch games may not fully work on the new platform. They promise to clear up any confusion later.
The anticipation is building, and frankly, we can’t wait to see where this road leads us. Stay tuned for our next Pure Nintendo Podcast where we’ll surely dive deeper into our expectations for Nintendo’s upcoming moves. It’s going to be thrilling, no doubt!
