Warhammer 40,000 has built up a massive and devoted following, with countless fans joining in to expand its universe with their own creative ideas. Among these fan-created projects, Astartes stands out as a particularly cherished series. Crafted by Syama Pedersen and shared on YouTube, Astartes follows the intense saga of a Space Marine Chapter known as the Retributors as they launch a fierce assault on an enemy vessel. The series is captivatingly silent, relying on the raw violence of the Space Marines and the enigmatic alien relics they come across to narrate its gripping story.
Astartes gained such a strong fanbase that it caught the attention of Games Workshop, leading them to bring Pedersen on board. Just recently, they teased fans with a trailer for the much-anticipated sequel, Astartes 2.
The trailer delivers a power-packed montage of breathtaking action scenes, showcasing various Space Marine Chapters. Those familiar Retributors are back, but this time, they’re joined by Marines from the Blood Angels, Mortifactors, Sons of Medusa, and Scythes of the Emperor. A post on the Warhammer Community clarified that these glimpses aren’t from the upcoming series but serve as background introductions for each Marine and their unique histories. The appearance of a Deathwatch Terminator hints at a massive team-up, with Marines from all Chapters uniting under the Deathwatch banner to combat alien foes.
We’ll have to hold on until 2026 for Astartes 2’s full release, but it promises to stay true to what made its predecessor a hit: minimal dialogue, explosive action, and a looming alien menace. Additionally, Pedersen lent his talents to And They Shall Know No Fear—the Warhammer 40k installment in Amazon’s Secret Level anthology and a connection to Space Marine 2. This upcoming series is set to premiere on Warhammer Plus, the dedicated streaming service that features a rich array of animations, tutorials, and other exciting 40K content, as well as stories from the Age of Sigmar fantasy realm.
