Hello, hunters! The year is 2025, which means it’s almost time to dive into Monster Hunter Wilds. We’ve got a new trailer to share, along with some juicy details about the upcoming second open beta test (OBT2). So, let’s break down the excitement from the latest trailer.
First up, the trailer introduces us to a new region: the Iceshard Cliffs. This frosty landscape is where you and the Expedition Team will be journeying next. It’s a place teeming with monstrous inhabitants and fierce blizzards that make survival a real test of skill. As you explore, you’ll experience chilling winds and drifting fog, dotted with unique debris. Stave off the cold by warming up with a hot drink, and be sure to meet the Iceshard’s diverse wildlife, all expertly adapted to its harsh climate.
The Iceshard Cliffs aren’t the only thing grabbing our attention—say hello to Rove, a wandering Wudwud with loads of personality. Keep an eye out for this quirky creature amidst the snowy scenes.
Now, let’s talk monsters. The leviathan known as Hirabami prowls the Iceshard Cliffs with sharp claws and wind-catching membranes for effortless floating. Our trailer hints at a mysterious beast attacking a group of these Hirabami, stirring up more mystery.
Returning to the spotlight is Nerscylla, the Temnoceran. It’s back with a vengeance, equipped with a fearsome horn perfect for taking down prey in a single blow. Threatening the calm further is the terrifying Gore Magala, seen attacking Fabius and his squad. Exactly what havoc will Gore Magala wreak in Monster Hunter Wilds? Get ready to find out in the full game!
Our journey introduces Arkveld, the White Wraith, our flagship monster with a few surprising motives of its own. What makes Arkveld tick? The latest trailer offers a glimpse into this enigmatic creature’s nature, revealing its winged appendages and chain-like attacks.
Looking ahead, OBT2 is all set to kick off with two exciting sessions. Here’s when you can jump in:
– February 6, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to February 9, 2025, 6:59 p.m. (Pacific Time)
– February 13, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to February 16, 2025, 6:59 p.m. (Pacific Time)
Starting February 5, 2025, you can pre-load the beta to be ready when the fun begins. Both sessions feature the same content, including Character Creation, a Story Trial, and a Doshagma Hunt. After defeating Doshaguma, continue exploring the Windward Plains in search of more exhilarating hunts.
The second open beta also introduces Gypceros, a clever Bird Wyvern, and marks an exciting first opportunity to face Arkveld in a challenging, advanced quest designed for those bold enough to take it on. If you’re up for a challenge, now’s your chance to demonstrate those hunting skills.
Enhance your abilities at the Training Area, now accessible from the base camp, and prepare yourself with the full array of weaponry. Just a heads-up, this beta doesn’t yet include all the tweaks planned for the final game.
Opt for a Private Lobby for intimate group hunts or go solo with Online Single Player mode. You can still experience multiplayer by launching an SOS Flare if needed.
Whether you’re revisiting the game or diving into the new features, there’s something for everyone in this beta. Good news for PS5 owners too: OBT2 is open to all, no PlayStation Plus subscription required. Participants in OBT2 will earn a Felyne pendant and a Bonus Item pack for the full game. If you joined the first beta, you’re already set for these rewards.
For those on the PS5 Pro, note that while OBT2 is playable, enhanced features will only arrive with the game’s full release via a day-one patch. Characters crafted in either beta can be carried over to the final game, with some slight differences to expect in character edits.
Monster Hunter Wilds is just around the corner! A big thank you to all our hunters for your continued enthusiasm. We can’t wait for you to explore the Forbidden Lands when the game launches on February 28.
If you’ve pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store, pre-load 48 hours before release to ensure you’re ready to hunt as soon as it drops!
