Keep your competitive rank close because it’s about to vanish next week with the release of Marvel Rivals’ midseason patch. In a recent developer diary post, NetEase shared that ranks are set to reset twice per season: once at the very beginning and again midway through.
After analyzing player behavior and feedback, the team concluded that early-season ranks are the most accurate measure of competitive prowess. “After careful observations and consideration, we have concluded that players’ ranks during the first half of Season 1 are the best indicator of their competitive skills within the season,” they stated. To make sure everything syncs with upcoming updates, they plan to introduce another rank reset.
Mark your calendars for February 21, because on that date, everyone will drop four divisions. Marvel Rivals organizes players into three divisions per rank, except for the elite ranks: Eternity and One Above All. So, if you’re sitting comfortably at Gold I, you’ll find yourself at Silver II post-reset. At the start of new seasons, expect to fall six divisions, though NetEase has promised to adjust if the competitive scene spirals into chaos as everyone finds their rightful place.
RivalsTracker data reveals that most engaged players hover between Silver I and Gold III, meaning many will find themselves battling it out in bronze temporarily.
If you’re gunning for the Blood Shield Invisible Woman skin, aim to reach Gold III by next Friday. With the patch’s arrival, a new skin reward will roll out, upping the ante; you’ll need to complete 10 matches to obtain it, ensuring no easy rides for top players.
The impact of the rank reset will vary based on the “major balance adjustments” NetEase is implementing. Players are buzzing about healers being overpowered and hoping for tweaks to Moon Knight’s ultimate. The arrival of characters like Thing and Human Torch in matches adds even more unpredictability to the mix.
