Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is set to hit PC and consoles on February 11th, but there’s more exciting news from developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games. They’re planning a special version of the game for Quest, launching this spring.
This Quest-exclusive edition is described as a unique experience crafted specifically for Meta Quest 3 and 3S. It offers the chance to build your own civilization from a first-person viewpoint, allowing players to gaze over the map in both Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) modes.
The task of bringing Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR to life has been taken up by PlaySide Studios, along with 2K’s publishing expertise. Players can anticipate engaging in both solo play and online multiplayer matches, with support for up to three additional players on Quest 3 and 3S.
One of the game’s highlights will be the series’ iconic world leaders, who will come alive, engaging directly with you. They’ll respond dynamically to your actions, whether you’re forming alliances or declaring war.
Although a specific release date hasn’t been confirmed, the expected launch is set for spring 2025. This announcement was made during the Civ World Summit event over the weekend. In the meantime, if you’re eager to get your hands on this VR experience, you can add Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR to your wishlist on the Horizon Store for Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
