Nintendo has emphasized the importance of exclusive games for the successful launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. This insight came during a dialogue with shareholders, where someone inquired if new titles for the current Nintendo Switch would still be seen once its successor arrives in stores.
Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, addressed the question by affirming, “At this point, we’ve lined up Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for release on the Nintendo Switch in 2025. Since the current Switch has a large player base, we’re keen on continuing to develop compelling games for it. Our aim is to keep new titles coming as long as there is demand.”
However, Furukawa highlighted that to launch a new console successfully, exclusive games play a pivotal role. He added, “As we roll out the Nintendo Switch 2, creating games unique to the new system is essential. We’re exploring various strategies to ensure both the current Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 offer enjoyable gaming experiences to as many people as possible.”
Gamers eagerly waiting for more details on Nintendo’s next big console can tune in to the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. This event is set to stream on Wednesday, April 2nd, starting at 6 am PT, 9 am ET, 2 pm BST, and 3 pm CEST.
Though the worldwide launch of Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for 2025, the exact date remains under wraps for now.
