Schell Games and Innersloth have exciting news for fans of Among Us. They’re bringing flatscreen support to Among Us VR (2022), paving the way for seamless crossplay between players on VR and PC.
In a thrilling twist, they’ve decided to rebrand the VR game as Among Us 3D, introducing PC players to a first-person point of view for the very first time.
Among Us 3D is set to welcome PC users to join in cross-platform lobbies with VR players. This includes all the major platforms like Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets. It’s a big move that aims to unify the Among Us experience for a broader audience.
It’s worth noting, though, that Among Us 3D won’t work with the original Among Us (2018) 2D game. This separation has been in place since Among Us VR made its debut in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, shared his excitement about the new endeavor: "With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to extend the first-person perspective to an even larger audience. Bringing VR and PC players together means even more hilarious betrayals amongst friends—the whole crew can join the chaos!"
The rebranding effort is expected to unfold over the next few months. Gamers can watch for updates across store pages, websites, and in-game branding as the transformation progresses.
Additionally, Among Us 3D plans to introduce a fresh in-game currency called ‘Stardust’. This will let players purchase cosmetic items, thereby supporting the game’s growth and development.
While the exact launch date remains under wraps, players can catch a sneak peek soon. Among Us 3D is set to feature in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, providing an exclusive early demo for eager fans.
