In a recent blog post, Blizzard gave us a sneak peek into their new interior decoration system with several in-engine videos demonstrating how furniture can be arranged. These videos showcase furniture pieces being placed on a grid, allowing for items to snap perfectly into place. There’s also the neat feature of decorating larger pieces, like bookshelves and dining tables, with smaller accessories that move with them. It’s important to note that the blog makes clear this is just a glimpse, focusing solely on interior decoration within a single room. Blizzard reminds us that this is a work in progress, so the current user interface may change.
For those who prefer a straightforward approach, the Basic mode offers quick and simple organization. But if you’re up for a bit more creativity, the Advanced mode lets you experiment with furniture by clipping and rotating items across three axes. This could pave the way for some truly unique player housing, providing skilled designers the chance to craft elaborate scenes by cleverly manipulating objects.
Another exciting feature is the ability to resize objects, catering to the variety of player models. For example, a gnome might appreciate more compact living spaces than a sizeable Tauren. They also showcased a recoloring option for some furniture models, particularly those crafted for player housing. However, older models might lack this customization capability.
Although this post zoomed in on interiors, Blizzard assured fans that the exterior of a home won’t limit its internal space. So, you can have an enormous mansion with just one room inside or a small cottage with numerous rooms—the choice is yours. Blizzard hinted that there’s much more to reveal, excitingly noting that they can’t wait to share further details.
Meanwhile, World of Warcraft enthusiasts are navigating through patch 11.3, called Undermine(d), set in the bustling cultural and financial hub of the goblin cartels. There are still significant updates ahead before hitting the Midnight patch, but Blizzard continues to unveil snippets of future content. BlizzCon, famous for its big announcements, is slated for a 2026 return after a break. As these early looks at the player housing system unfold, I find myself eager to learn if players can choose their settlement locations—I’m personally eyeing a spot in the Grizzly Hills for its serene atmosphere.
