Yesterday was a big day for Bigscreen as they opened up orders for their latest innovation, the Beyond 2 PC VR headset. Packed with a new pancake lens design to enhance both field-of-view and visual clarity, this headset is capturing attention fast. Within just 10 hours of going live, Beyond 2 had already surpassed the sales of its predecessor, Beyond, by a considerable extent.
Bigscreen has kept the community updated through posts on X, highlighting the impressive reception by VR enthusiasts. “In just the first 25 minutes, Beyond 2 outsold the entire first day sales of Beyond 1. Within the hour, we doubled what Beyond 1 achieved on launch day,” they shared.
The excitement didn’t stop there. As the day continued, sales figures for both Beyond 2 and its eye-tracking variant, the Beyond 2e, kept climbing. The latest numbers are truly astounding: “Within 10 hours of launch, Beyond 2 managed to sell more units than we did in the first four months with Beyond 1.”
As of now, Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e are slated for shipment in June 2025, having already maxed out their initial April and May shipment schedules.
So, what’s sparking all the hype around Beyond 2? While you can delve into more specifics here, one key factor might be the seamless upgrade path Bigscreen offers. Existing Beyond 1 users get a discount—$849 for the Beyond 2 and $1,049 for the Beyond 2e—and most of their accessories remain compatible. This includes the custom facial interface essential for the Beyond 1.
Moreover, the Beyond 2 is a leap forward with its innovations. The new pancake lens design not only provides a broader 116-degree diagonal field-of-view but also features an adjustable IPD mechanism. The headset itself is lighter, weighing in at just 107 grams, with the 2e model adding the bonus of AI-powered eye tracking. While it retains the dual 1-inch, 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays of the original Beyond, the updated lenses certainly enhance clarity and field-of-view.
Priced at $1,019 and $1,219, the Beyond 2 and 2e, with their discounted rates for previous users, also introduced a new halo-style mount and a Lightblocker facial interface, due to hit the market in Q3 2025.
