According to Variety, there’s exciting news on the horizon: a film adaptation of the newly-released game Split Fiction is in the works. Story Kitchen is the team spearheading this project, tasked with assembling a talented cast, writers, and a director. This isn’t their first rodeo; they previously worked on adapting Hazelight’s game It Takes Two, which Amazon is managing. They’ve also been involved with projects for Toejam and Earl, Slime Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
The buzz around this adaptation is significant, with multiple top Hollywood studios reportedly making offers. Split Fiction, which just hit the shelves in March, made an impressive debut, selling over a million copies in just 48 hours and doubling that figure by the end of its first week.
Hazelight took to Bluesky to express their gratitude, saying, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing.” They added a heartfelt thank you to both new and longtime fans, expressing their love for the enthusiasm surrounding their game.
In related news, It Takes Two will feature Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with screenplay duties shouldered by the talented duo Pat Casey and Josh Miller, known for their work on Sonic the Hedgehog.
