Last Thursday was a big day for Bigscreen as they opened the floodgates for orders of the Beyond 2 headset. With the launch setting an astonishing pace, this new slim and lightweight PC VR headset quickly outpaced its predecessor. In just 24 hours, sales figures surpassed what the original Beyond managed in six months, marking an impressive debut.
The buzz around Beyond 2 has come with some remarkable stats. A mere 25 minutes after sales began, orders for Beyond 2 eclipsed the entire first day sales of Beyond 1. Within an hour, they had doubled. As the first 10 hours ticked by, Beyond 2 outstripped four months’ worth of sales from its predecessor.
In a revealing post on X (formerly known as Twitter) last Friday, Bigscreen’s founder and CEO, Darshan Shankar, shared the most astounding figure yet:
“Within the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 sold 10 times more units than Beyond 1 on its launch day two years ago. It’s a performance that matches six months of Beyond 1’s initial sales—an incredible feat.”
What’s even more noteworthy is that they pulled this off without spending a dime on advertising. Shankar was quick to note, “We didn’t pay influencers to boost our product. We avoided high-cost ad agencies and flashy video campaigns. Zero advertising.”
That said, Bigscreen wisely chose to send out a few of the Beyond 2 units for early reviews. Around ten units were shared with notable tech reviewers like Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy to offer firsthand insights.
In case you haven’t caught up with the latest, Beyond 2 is available in two versions, one equipped with eye-tracking (the Beyond 2e) and one without it (the Beyond 2), priced at $1,019 and $1,219 respectively.
Despite retaining the same dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays as the original model, the standout upgrade in Beyond 2 is its enhanced field-of-view and improved clarity. Thanks to the integration of a new pancake lens design, the headset now offers a wider 116-degree diagonal FOV compared to the original’s 102 degrees. It also boasts an adjustable IPD mechanism and a lighter design at just 107 grams.
The initial batch was slated for shipping in April (Beyond 2) and May (Beyond 2e). However, due to the overwhelming demand, new orders for both models are now expected to ship in June.
