It’s been a month since Monster Hunter Wilds has been out on PlayStation 5! A massive thank you to all the hunters worldwide for your incredible enthusiasm and support. Whether you’re a veteran of the Monster Hunter series or just diving in with Wilds, we hope your experience has been thrilling and packed with endless hunt hours, even after the credits.
We’re thrilled to reveal what’s in store for Monster Hunter Wilds with the release of the game’s very first Free Title Update:
The graceful Leviathan Mizutsune is making a splash in the Wilds. This creature is both stunning and deadly, gliding through its territory almost like it’s dancing, while unleashing dangerous bubble attacks. Hunters, gear up for the return of this foe in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Mizutsune comes complete with some stylish new armor sets you can craft for both your hunter and trusty Palico. And watch out, as an eight-star Tempered Mizutsune will also surface. To start this exciting hunt, speak with Kanya in the Scarlet Forest Base Camp once your Hunter Rank reaches 21 or higher.
Hold onto your weapons, because the Arch-tempered Rey Dau is stepping into the ring with a new Event Quest. In today’s Monster Hunter Wilds landscape, Tempered monsters are the most formidable opponents—but that’s about to change. With the release of Free Title Update 1, the even mightier Arch-tempered monsters will arrive to push your skills to their limits. Prepare to tackle the Arch-tempered Rey Dau once you’ve hit Hunter Rank 50—that quest kicks off on Tuesday, April 30.
Plus, new Rey Dau γ (gamma) and Felyne Rey Dau γ (gamma) armor sets will be yours to forge if you successfully hunt the Arch-tempered Rey Dau.
Sharpen your skills and gather your gear, because this is one challenge you won’t want to miss.
Get ready for a rematch with the fearsome Zoh Shia, who’s returning for more action in High Rank, thanks to Free Title Update 1. Previously, hunters faced Zoh Shia only once within the story, but now the quest can be revisited time and again. Following the update on April 4, a new mission will pop up for hunters at HR 50 and above.
Conquer this quest by selecting it in the Environment Overview. Zoh Shia may also occasionally appear, turning into a quest during the Wyvern’s Wakening in Wyveria’s Ruins.
Materials harvested from Zoh Shia can be used to forge all-new High Rank gear for both hunters and Palico companions.
Now, let’s shift focus to a fresh locale: The Grand Hub. This is a new social space where hunters can mingle, communicate, and enjoy unique activities together. The Grand Hub holds a special place as a site of worship for the people of Suja. By night, you might even hear the Diva offering up a song—so keep your ears open.
And for a bit of fun, why not try your hand at Barrel Bowling? Roll barrel bombs into targets and rack up a score to win useful items and pendants for your hunts. Barrel Bowling Vouchers, necessary to play, can be picked up through login bonuses and other means.
The Grand Hub is ready to serve up some culinary delights courtesy of the hardworking Felynes. Take a moment to relax and chat with fellow hunters around the table. You can access the Grand Hub starting at Hunter Rank 16 by speaking with Tetsuzan in Suja, at the Peaks of Accord. Once it’s unlocked, the Squad Information Counter will shift from the Windward Plains Base Camp to the Grand Hub, allowing squad management right from there.
Arena Quests also make a return in Monster Hunter Wilds. These quests pit two hunters against various challenges with just set equipment, pushing them to complete tasks as quickly as possible. Want to see how your times stack up against players globally? Check out the rankings at the Expedition Record Board.
Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests are lined up as well. Engage in special limited-time Event Quests to snag pendants as rewards. While everyone receives pendants, exceptional performance and high rankings can net you even more special ones. Much like Arena Quests, Challenge Quests are limited to two hunters and come with preset gear. Free Challenge Quests are a newer addition, open to four players and without equipment restrictions. Both options also support gameplay with Support Hunters.
Switching gears, you’ll soon be able to tweak Alma’s appearance, thanks to a new option in the camp’s Appearance Menu. Completing specific side missions will even let you change Alma’s glasses—and there’s a free outfit available too, so be sure to try it out.
Moreover, check the PlayStation Store for a new look for Alma as part of free downloadable content, alongside some classic Monster Hunter gestures. A Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 will launch simultaneously with Free Title Update 1. This paid DLC is included in the Cosmetic DLC Pass, which comes with the Premium Deluxe Edition but is also available separately.
And lastly, join us from April 23 to May 7 for the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance at the Grand Hub. During this seasonal event, the Grand Hub will be decked out with different decor and food, and you can earn exclusive equipment, gestures, and quirky camp decorations.
That covers the major highlights for this first Free Title Update. Besides these features, a few fixes and adjustments are also coming your way. And guess what? We’re planning another update in May that includes a collaboration with another beloved Capcom title and more surprises.
Keep an eye out for Free Title Update 2 aiming to land this summer as well, and we’re thrilled to tease you with what’s coming soon. Happy hunting, adventurers!
