It seems that Warner Bros has pulled the plug on a planned expansion for their popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. According to Bloomberg, this expansion was supposed to debut along with a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG, promising new storylines to enchant players.
However, sources indicate that Warner Bros felt the content simply didn’t offer enough to justify the hefty price tag they had in mind. This ambitious expansion was under the creative guidance of the game’s original developer, Avalanche Software, working alongside Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is also rumored to have started work on a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy.
In the world of Rocksteady, things are a bit rocky. After the company revealed it would no longer continue support for the 2024 title Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, it announced layoffs. This move adds to the struggles Warner Bros has been facing with its gaming sector, which it admitted was significantly underperforming just last year. In fact, Warner Bros took a substantial financial hit, writing off $200 million from the Suicide Squad game alone. The ripple effect has been harsh, leading to the closure of three studios, one of which was Monolith, and the departure of the long-serving head honcho, David Haddad.
