Tomorrow’s the big day! Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Direct focused on the Nintendo Switch 2 will be airing on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and you can expect it to run for about an hour.
Set your alarms: the broadcast goes live bright and early at 6 AM PT, or if you’re on the East Coast, it’s 9 AM ET. For those across the pond, that’s 2 PM BST or 3 PM CEST.
The buzz about the Nintendo Switch 2 has been building ever since it was officially unveiled last month. That reveal marked the end of weeks filled with rumors, supposed leaks, and endless chatter about what’s next for Nintendo’s hybrid console lineup.
In their initial reveal, Nintendo gave us a tantalizing glimpse of the console’s design and hinted at the much-anticipated new Mario Kart game. Plus, fans of the original console will be happy to hear that the new system will support backward compatibility, which means you won’t have to leave your classic Nintendo Switch games behind.
Nintendo has clarified that the Switch 2 will handle both physical cartridges and digital downloads of Switch games. However, a word of caution: some of the current titles might not run or be fully compatible on the new system.
While they’ve got our excitement piqued, Nintendo still hasn’t pinned down an exact global launch date for the Switch 2, though it is slated for a 2025 release.
Stay tuned for the full reveal trailer and all the exciting details Nintendo is prepping to show during the presentation.
