Helldivers 2 players might have been hoping for a big update this week, but while that didn’t happen, their newest mission certainly seems to promise an exciting challenge with some serious Galactic War implications. If you’re fed up with the devastating Meridian death ball wreaking havoc on planets, there’s now a chance to put an end to it.
So far, it’s devoured three worlds—Moradesh, Angel’s Venture, and most recently, Ivis—leaving some players either mourning or, in some cases, not really caring much, because this whole death ball narrative is exhausting even the most devoted divers. It’s about time we stopped its march toward Super Earth.
In light of their recent triumph on Wezen, the divers have built an Exosuit Support Bay at their Democracy Space Station, significantly reducing exosuit stratagem cooldowns by 35% for everyone.
“Center of Science astrophysicists on Fenrir III are nearly at the point where they can initiate the third and final phase of the plan to stop the Meridian Singularity,” the report states. “However, progress into the highly theoretical field of Dark Energy manipulation necessitates an incredibly large supply of E-710 for experiments.”
The Gloom has proven to be a formidable yet fruitful source of E-710 during our initial scientific venture. To advance our technology sufficiently to halt the Meridian Wormhole, High Command has sanctioned another limited expedition. Excess E-710 may even be directed to mercantile interests in support of common prosperity, should it be available.
In order to free the planet Nivel 43, secure this E-710, and disable the death ball, divers will once again face the “Gloom-specific terminid strains” they encountered previously. Time to tackle those big, bad bugs again.
The community seems pretty excited about venturing back into the fog. One enthusiastic post on the game’s subreddit announced, “THERE’S ANOTHER GLOOM EXPEDITION,” sparking a thread of players thrilled about the prospect of squashing some more terminids. It seems they’re a bit over the endless battles with automatons and illuminates, but hey, it’s great to see such lively enthusiasm.
