ILM and Lucasfilm have just unveiled an exciting sneak peek into their upcoming Quest 3 game, Star Wars: Beyond Victory – A Mixed Reality Playset. This new entry offers an innovative blend of virtual and mixed reality gameplay that’s sure to captivate fans.
In collaboration with Meta, attendees at the much-anticipated ‘Star Wars Celebration 2025’ held from April 18-20 in Tokyo, Japan, were treated to the first hands-on experience of this game. Alongside this, an intriguing teaser gave fans a taste of what’s in store.
Still under development, Star Wars: Beyond Victory dives into the timeline around Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). When it officially arrives on Quest 3 and 3S, players will get to explore three unique modes.
The game features a fascinating combination of VR and MR through a story mode centered around the podracer named ‘Volo’. Additionally, there’s an arcade mode that introduces mini-podracing to a mixed reality holotable, and a creative ‘playset’ mode that allows players to decorate their physical surroundings with a variety of unlockable virtual action figures and vehicles.
“This isn’t just any game; it’s an imaginative gateway into the Star Wars universe, bringing to life ILM’s creativity,” explained Alyssa Finley, the Executive Producer of the game. “This mixed reality experience is unlike anything else and we are thrilled to offer our beloved Star Wars community a first glimpse.”
For those attending the event at the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo this Friday, a hands-on experience with Star Wars: Beyond Victory awaits at the ILM and Meta Quest booth in Hall 4, Booth #20-5. Along with this, there will be the chance to explore ILM’s previous XR hits like Vader Immortal and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.
As of now, no official launch date has been set, but if ILM’s track record is any indication, fans can expect a steady stream of updates as the journey to launch continues. Keep a lookout for more news!
