OneXPlayer recently stirred excitement among gaming enthusiasts with a teaser video on YouTube introducing their upcoming handheld device, the Onexfly F1 Pro. The video highlights the powerhouse under its hood, AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, part of the innovative Ryzen AI 300 series, also known by its codename Strix Point. This new handheld marvel boasts a 7-inch display and demonstrated its capabilities by running Black Myth: Wukong, maintaining a frame rate between 50 and 60 FPS.
The Onexfly F1 Pro has quite the eye-catching feature set. Front and center is its vibrant 7-inch OLED display that supports HDR and boasts a 144 Hz refresh rate, promising gamers a fluid visual experience. Weighing in at just 598 grams, the device is also equipped with Harman Kardon speakers for superior audio quality. At the core of its performance is the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, which packs a punch with four Zen 5 cores, eight Zen 5c cores, and the latest AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU featuring 16 compute units based on RDNA 3.5 architecture. With such impressive specs, the Onexfly F1 Pro sets itself up as a formidable competitor to devices like the Steam Deck OLED, ROG Ally X, and Lenovo Legion Go.
In the teaser, OneXPlayer showcased the device’s prowess by running Black Myth: Wukong at a resolution of 1080p with low settings and 65% upscaling, effectively rendering at 1248 x 702. The handheld, powered by the AI 9 HX 370, achieved an average of 58 FPS, consuming only 15W of power during this test.
OneXPlayer is making waves with the Onexfly F1 Pro, as it will be their debut device featuring both an OLED screen and AMD’s cutting-edge Zen 5-based mobile CPUs. Until now, their range has relied on previous-generation Intel or AMD processors and non-OLED screens. Consequently, the Onexfly F1 Pro is set to be among the first of its kind to enter the market, with only the GPT Pocket 4 similarly presenting the Ryzen AI HX 370.
Unlike the Pocket 4, which adopts a hybrid 2-in-1 format with a flip screen and keyboard, the F1 Pro embraces the handheld gaming tradition with ergonomic grips and controls, ensuring a more traditional gaming experience. The benchmark results from OneXPlayer’s teaser illustrate that the AI 9 HX 370 is exceptionally well-suited for handhelds, capable of running demanding AAA games effectively at a modest 15W TDP, which helps extend battery life. As AMD hasn’t yet launched their next-gen Z-series dedicated to handhelds, manufacturers are understandably leaning on AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 series from the laptop segment.
For those keen to keep up with the latest in gaming tech, OneXPlayer’s looming release is creating quite the buzz and promises to be a game-changer in the handheld market.
