February 2025 is shaping up to be a quiet month for major video game releases, with some titles getting pushed back. However, there is one intriguing addition that might catch your interest: “Keep Driving,” a unique driving RPG set to make its debut. This game invites players to engage in turn-based battles while collecting items along the way.
For those unfamiliar with its quirky charm, I got my hands on the demo during last year’s Steam Next Fest. Despite meeting my demise at the hands of a rogue puddle, I found it to be quite the entertaining experience. The game centers around a road trip to a friend’s house, where both you and your trusty vehicle must navigate the typical challenges of driving, alongside managing food and sleep needs along the way.
Exciting news has surfaced as the Swedish game developer YCJY Games has announced that the full version of “Keep Driving” is set to launch on February 6 for PC via Steam. Their joyful tweet made this announcement along with a fresh trailer that highlights various turn-based skirmishes with tractors, sheep, and treacherous potholes. The trailer also teases the additional cars you can hop into, complete with amenities needed for you, your car, and any hitchhikers you might encounter. While I enjoyed the demo’s car that was almost a Volvo, I’ve got to admit, the prospect of cruising around in a pickup truck has a distinctive appeal for my inner Johnny Cash fan.
Currently, “Keep Driving” is targeting a PC release, but there have been hints of potential console versions in the future. One of the developers hinted on social media about possible console releases, although it’s still unclear which ones beyond the Switch. Fingers crossed for a PS2 port so I can toggle seamlessly between this and some classic Need For Speed Underground.
Until that happens, I’m eagerly anticipating how the full release of “Keep Driving” will encapsulate the vibes that initially drew me to it.
