Days Gone Remastered is gearing up to offer players a thrilling experience with the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode. This recent feature coming to the much-anticipated remaster adds a hefty 10 hours of gameplay and over 20 formidable weapons to further immerse players in the chaotic world of Days Gone.
Building on the original game, Horde Assault presents a slew of game-altering modifiers and enticing rewards, making for a significant expansion. Scheduled for release on April 25, 2025, Days Gone Remastered also promises to challenge players with the intense Permadeath mode and the adrenaline-pumping Speedrun mode.
Despite its rocky start on the PS4 back in 2019, Days Gone gradually carved out a devoted fan base, many of whom passionately pushed for a sequel—which, unfortunately, hasn’t been greenlit by Sony. Their dedication, however, has been partially rewarded by the announcement of a PS5-exclusive remaster, unveiled during the State of Play livestream this past February. This refreshed version by Bend Studio is primed to not only enhance the game’s visuals but also to pack in extra content for an enriched experience.
On the PlayStation Blog, Bend Studio elaborated that the new Horde Assault mode beefs up the original gameplay, extending it by 10 engaging hours. Gamers will face off against increasingly difficult hordes, featuring formidable adversaries like Reachers, Breakers, and the ruthless Rager bears, all while battling for survival and aiming for high scores. Players can choose from a selection of over 20 toys of destruction, such as a flamethrower, along with 24 strategic gameplay modifiers known as Injectors. For instance, the “Exploding Freakers” Injector causes enemies to blow up when defeated, and “Wanted” allows players to dive into the hardest difficulty level right from the start. A newly released trailer showcases some heart-pounding action from Horde Assault mode, spotlighting characters like Deacon, Boozer, and Rikki Patil in action-packed scenarios.
The action kicks off in Days Gone’s Cascade region, where players start with only a sidearm and gradually upgrade their arsenal. After making it through the initial wave, the Drifter bike becomes available, enabling players to scour the area for Supply Boxes, each promising a new weapon. Additionally, the mode introduces Side Jobs, granting extra resources and XP. By progressing through a reward path of 35 levels, players can unlock a variety of Injectors, cosmetic patches, and even playable characters such as O’Brian, Lisa, and Skizzo. Interestingly, one of these rewards includes a fan-requested item related to the player’s bike, though details remain under wraps.
With the remaster’s release on PS5 drawing closer, anticipation is building among fans. Although initially a PlayStation exclusive, PC gamers won’t miss out; they can look forward to these exciting new modes and content with the release of the Broken Road DLC, launching simultaneously on the PC version of Days Gone.
