Intel’s XeSS technology has expanded significantly with over 150 games now supporting XeSS 1, and the newer XeSS 2 starting to make its debut. It’s an exciting time for Intel, as they initially introduced this super-sampling method with their Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs. Although XeSS has been around for a couple of years, it’s clear the technology is evolving, and developers are gradually adopting its updates.
As XeSS 2 begins to find its footing, XeSS 1, along with its updated versions, has already found a home in a large array of games. Intel has revealed that more than 150 titles now incorporate XeSS, and they assure that even more are on the horizon.
The list of games featuring XeSS is impressive, covering a range of popular triple-A titles. Yet, in the broader scheme of things, XeSS is still playing catch-up to competitors like AMD’s FSR and NVIDIA’s DLSS.
Intel shared their milestone through a tweet, celebrating their progress in gaming with a promise of enhanced AI upscaling. While XeSS certainly puts Intel in a better position, there’s still a substantial road ahead to match and potentially surpass its competition. Most games currently offer support for XeSS 1, but XeSS 2 is just beginning to appear in titles like F1 2024 and Marvel Rivals. Upcoming releases such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Killing Floor 3 are expected to include this next-gen tech.
Interestingly, some titles offer support for Intel’s XeSS Frame Generation, although this is not as prevalent as the techniques offered by FSR and DLSS. Importantly, both XeSS 2 and Frame Generation are tailored for Intel’s Arc Battlemage GPUs. At present, there are only two GPUs available in this series—the Arc B580 and Arc B570—and they aren’t easily accessible.
For more updates on Intel’s efforts to revolutionize gaming graphics, keep an eye on their gaming announcements and stay tuned to see how XeSS and its capabilities evolve in the coming months.
