We’ve finally got a date for when you can snag your preorder for the Switch 2 in the United States, after a couple of weeks of buzz around tariffs.
Nintendo put out a press release today confirming that you can preorder the Switch 2 starting April 24, which falls on a Thursday. For now, the prices stay put: $449.99 for just the console or $499.99 if you want the bundle that includes a digital version of Mario Kart World.
However, Nintendo did mention that because things are still shifting around, some accessories are getting a price bump. The Switch 2 Pro Controller, for instance, now costs $84.99, which is up by five bucks. The Joy-Cons have seen a similar increase and are now $94.99. Planning to snag a second dock? That’ll cost you $119.99, a $10 increase. And if you want extra Joy-Con straps, they’re up by a dollar to $13.99. Other accessories have seen a $5 increase as well. We’ve got a snapshot of the complete list of hardware prices in this piece, along with the costs for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza.
As for our friends in Canada, you can probably expect preorders to start around the same time, but don’t bank on confirmation today due to a national holiday. Retailers up north haven’t made any updates yet, but Nintendo of Canada is backing the same April 24 date and has shared Canadian pricing, too.
