Few games manage crossovers as effectively as Dead By Daylight. This game masterfully integrates killers from other franchises, flawlessly capturing their essence and delivering fresh gameplay through their unique perks. While the survivor crossovers are impressive in their own right, there’s something extraordinary about battling with iconic figures like the Xenomorph from Alien or Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. Unfortunately, despite a steady stream of new killers joining the roster, Behaviour Interactive has announced that one legendary character will soon depart. Get ready to say goodbye to The Cenobite, as this iconic character won’t be available much longer.
Yes, you heard that right. Pinhead from the Hellraiser universe is on his way out. All content related to the Hellraiser Chapter will be pulling its shadowy tendrils from the game soon. Behaviour Interactive explains this by noting, “Dead by Daylight is a live service game, and there’s always the possibility that unexpected changes may occur.” Reading between the lines, it looks like the licensing arrangement for this Hellraiser content has come to an end.
But don’t panic if you’ve already added Pinhead to your collection—you’ll still be able to unleash him in your future matches and use any Hellraiser content you’ve purchased. For those who have already unlocked his perks, rest assured they’ll retain their original names. For everyone else, these abilities will be relabeled and added to the general pool. The same goes for Hellraiser-specific achievements.
If you don’t want to miss out on this darkly charismatic character, now is the time to act. “If you’re keen to unlock The Cenobite or any of his Cosmetics—like The Chatterer Legendary Outfit—we’ll be hosting a Last Chance sale with 50% off all Hellraiser items until they vanish from The Fog,” shared Behaviour in their announcement.
Pinhead will still be unlockable until Friday, April 4, at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 4 PM BST / 5 PM CEST in Dead By Daylight.
Watching a beloved crossover character leave is always a bit of a letdown. While there are plenty of fantastic characters to play with, the removal of Pinhead raises concerns for fans. It leaves one wondering if other popular survivors and killers might also disappear if they’re under similar licensing restrictions. Introduced in August 2021, the Hellraiser DLC has enjoyed a solid run, giving fans a chance to experience its terror for a few years.
