Insomniac Games recently addressed the growing impatience from fans eagerly awaiting news about Marvel’s Wolverine on the PS5. They’ve made it clear that any updates will be shared on their own schedule, and they don’t intend to cave to external pressures to disclose more information prematurely.
In a recent interaction, sparked by a tweet about the Spider-Man 2 PC port, a user took a jab at the studio for seemingly disregarding PS5 users who are anxious for Wolverine news. The comment, drenched in sarcasm, called out Insomniac for being inattentive.
It’s not typical for Insomniac Games to engage with tweets like this, but their social media team took a rare step to address the criticism. They replied by saying, “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” putting a notable emphasis on their decision-making autonomy. They added, “That will always be our answer. We can’t act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the greenlight to share them.”
Despite the delay in updates, Insomniac assured fans that work on Wolverine is “actively” progressing.
At the close of 2023, Insomniac was hit by a substantial ransomware attack that led to the leaking of substantial alpha footage from Wolverine. While the studio expressed their deep disappointment over this incident, they emphasized that the breach hasn’t derailed the development or the planned reveal timeline.
Marvel’s Wolverine was first brought to light in September 2021, but concrete updates have been scarce since then. Considering the industry’s trend towards extensive development cycles, it might be some time before we get a significant glimpse into the gameplay.
